BIMI checker: test your BIMI record and logo setup

Type a domain and see whether its BIMI record would put a logo beside its emails: the record at default._bimi, the SVG logo, the mark certificate, and the DMARC policy BIMI depends on. Free, no sign-up, nothing stored.

What is BIMI, and does cold email need it?

BIMI (Brand Indicators for Message Identification) lets a mailbox provider show your logo beside your emails. It is optional, and it does not decide whether an email reaches the inbox. For a cold email sending domain it is rarely worth it: it needs DMARC at p=quarantine or p=reject, a trademarked logo for the certificate Gmail asks for, and a yearly certificate fee. Spend that effort on SPF, DKIM and DMARC first; our SPF, DKIM and DMARC guide covers them.

What does this BIMI checker test?

  • The record: one TXT record at default._bimi.yourdomain.com starting v=BIMI1.
  • The logo (l=): an HTTPS link to an SVG file. Providers require the SVG Tiny PS profile, a square image.
  • The certificate (a=): a link to a Verified Mark Certificate or Common Mark Certificate. Gmail and Apple Mail show logos only with one.
  • DMARC: the policy must be quarantine or reject. At p=none no provider shows the logo.

The checker reads DNS only. It reports the logo and certificate links without opening them.

Why is my BIMI logo not showing in Gmail?

Usually one of three things: DMARC is still at p=none, there is no mark certificate, or the SVG is not in the Tiny PS profile. Gmail also shows the logo only on mail that passes DMARC, so a message failing alignment shows no logo even with a perfect record. See our DMARC policy guide for moving safely from none to quarantine.

Does BIMI improve cold email deliverability?

Not directly. Providers decide the folder on reputation and authentication; the logo is shown after that decision. The one indirect benefit is that BIMI forces strict DMARC, which does help. Check the records that do affect placement with the domain checker.
